Research project

Stack the Deck is a deck of waterproof playing cards, printed with information about resources that serve the unhoused populations in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

These standard 52 card decks come with a durable carrying case for easy storage and use. Through facilitating community bonding, Stack the Deck empowers people to improve their lives.

Final Concept

Stack the Deck

A winning hand when the odds are stacked against you

A system for dispensing life saving information to the unhoused populations of Boston and Cambridge.

Room for Growth

I see the deck both as a fun outreach tool as well as an organic, affordable way to disperse life-saving information to vulnerable communities.

Besides dispersing this to social workers and populations in the Harvard area, I had a few more ideas for application scenarios.

I could see this same concept being useful in dispersing information to other vulnerable populations who lack knowledge of resources. This could mean LGBTQ youth, veterans or even freshman at a new university.

Tangible sources of information provide a concrete link between a resource and the holder of the information. It's fun and collectible.
